One of the many common questions we receive is What’s the difference between American Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, regular Bulldogs, Blue bloods, Red bloods, Mini-Bulldogs, and Olde-English Bulldogs ?

The answer is Bulldogs are an A.K.C. recognized breed. They are sometimes referred to as English Bulldogs to distinguish them from the others. French bulldogs, or Frenchies are also a recognized A.K.C. breed. They look quite different from English Bulldogs. All the rest are NOT A.K.C. recognized breeds. They are considered mixed or cross breeds.

What about Pit bulls ? Well there is no such breed as a “Pitbull” Often American Staffordshire terriers, Bull terriers, Staffordshire bull terriers, and American bulldogs are all lumped in together and called pit bulls.
Bulldogs are very different from all these dogs physically and in temperament.
