Do not!

  • Give your dog any type of bones as an adult or puppy. (“nyla bone” ok)
  • Let him go in deep water without supervision. They cannot swim
  • Let him get over heated or over exited. This can be fatal. If this happens wet him down immediately with water
  • Over exercise him—only short walks, especially during hot weather
  • Exercise him right after or just before he eats
  • Change his brand of dog food after you have him on a good diet. This can cause diarrhea
  • Feed him pork, fatty meat scraps, salmon or ham . No milk either
  • Give him sweets of any kind, especially chocolate. It can kill them
  • Give him tylenol. For pain reliever give him 1/2 of a tablet of ascriptin every 12 hours or one in the morning and one at night
  • Let him near house plants. (many are poison to them)
  • As a puppy leave him outside on the damp or cold ground any longer than 15 minutes at one time
  • Let him chew on electrical cords
  • Let him have something he can swallow, watch for little rocks outside also
  • Let your cat scratch at his eyes

Do

  • Teach him the word “no” do not spank him but make sure your voice is very firm
  • Take him in the car when he is little, so he will get used to riding. Bulldogs love to ride in the car
  • Always praise him when he has been good and reward him with a doggie treat. Especially when trying to potty train him
  • Bath him every other week. Brush him frequently. Keep his toe nails clipped short. Keep his wrinkles and ears clean. If he has a tight tail keep that area very clean and dry. You can use baby powder to help keep it dry. Terramycin ointment can be used in his eyes if needed.(get this at the vet)
  • Always keep fresh water available for him.
  • Keep his shots current and worm him at least every 6 months.
  • For added treats to his dry dog food you can give him small amounts of cottage cheese , yogurt (plain), macaroni and cheese, cooked hamburger and roast beef. Use milk bones for his doggie treats. They are good for his teeth and eliminates bad breath
